USA presents 'undeniable' evidence Iran arming Yemen's rebels with missiles

USA presents 'undeniable' evidence Iran arming Yemen's rebels with missiles

She also referred to a "Shark 33" naval drone rigged with an outboard motor that she said could blow a "six-foot wide hole" in a ship.

A placard describing pieces of an Iranian Qiam Ballistic Missile, a SCUD variant, on display after Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley unveiled previously classified information intending to prove Iran violated U.N. Security Council Resolution 2231 by providing the Houthi rebels in Yemen with arms during a press conference at Joint Base Anacostia in Washington, December 14, 2017.

The Iranian top diplomat likened Halley's presentation Thursday to former US Secretary of State Colin Powell's claim in 2003 that Iraq possessed WMD.

The President has called the deal "one of the worst" and "the most one-sided transaction the United States has ever entered into", and he reiterated his sentiments when he announced the US would not certify the deal yet - he said the "rogue regime" of Iran is only perpetuating terrorism around the world, and is becoming more aggressive in doing so.

"This evidence demonstrates a pattern of behavior in which Iran sows conflict and extremism in direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions", she pointed out.

Haley will be discussing a U.N. report on the implementation of the nuclear agreement Iran struck with the United States, Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany, which also calls on Iran to not carry out ballistic missile activity that could carry nuclear warheads.

During an official visit to Saudi Arabia in May, Trump announced a $110 billion arms deal with Riyadh, said to be the largest in American history.

She said the transfer of these weapons into the hands of Houthi rebels is a violation of United Nations resolution 2231, which bars Iran from the "supply, sale, or transfer of arms or related materiel". "Global peace and security depends on us working together against the Iranian regime's hostile actions", she said.

Saudi Arabia and its allies view the Houthi rebels as an Iranian proxy on its doorstep.

"We present this evidence so that we, our allies and worldwide partners - including organisations like the [United Nations] - can be clear eyed about Iran's activities as we work together", Seal said.

"Just imagine if this missile had been launched at Dulles Airport or JFK, or the airports in Paris, London, or Berlin", Haley said.

"The nuclear deal has done nothing to moderate the regime's conduct in other areas". It said the evidence means the United Nations should tighten its inspection and verification regime for vessels allowed into Yemen. However, he did not withdraw the USA from the deal.

"As you know, we do not often declassify this type of military equipment recovered from these attacks, but today we are taking an extraordinary step of presenting it here in an open setting", she said.
