Instagram Adds Recommended Posts to Feed

Instagram Adds Recommended Posts to Feed

The only difference is that, until now you had to head to the Explore section to view the recommended posts, and now they will all be cluttering your home feed. Instagram has officially - but quietly - started rolling that content out to all of its users, though it will take time for everyone to start seeing it.

The app, based in Menlo Park, is used by millions of people each day to share photos and videos, as well as to tag them with relevant subject hashtags. "You can choose to temporarily hide Recommended for You posts".

The change isn't anything new though given that this already was being tested for some time.

Many new app companies are looking to include algorithms for informational sources.

This latest change to Instagram feeds is set to deliver lots of fresh content to users. However, the addition of recommended content on the home feed is perhaps one of the biggest changes since the platform chose to switch its feed from chronological to algorithmic.

Just this month, they actually let users follow hashtags and see posts that use this on their feed. This is nearly the same as the new "Explore Feed" that was launched by Facebook. Furthermore, it seems that the reception to the new feature has been lukewarm, with some reacting with indifference and others expressed their confusion.

It is worth noting that with the introduction of the "recommended posts", Instagram has done away with the chronological feed. You can easily find the right ones for you by typing a keyword into Instagram's search bar, selecting a hashtag from the list and swiping along the Related row that appears at the top of the screen. To get more followers, you need to keep your profile attractive.

For now, the recommended posts will appear after you've gone through the posts in your main feed from people you do follow.

It's very hard though to see why this could be a problem for anyone. It suggests photos and videos for you directly in your feed from people you don't follow.
