New Samsung Notebook Features Rotating Screen, Biometric Security

The key highlights of the Notebook include a fingerprint sensor, which will work with Windows Hello security suite.

The Active Pen is the new Notebook 7 Spin's flawless companion for when users are attending meetings, listening to lectures or participating in conference calls. The device comes with a 360 degree rotating touchscreen along with support for Active Pen which will be sold separately. Users can log in with Windows Hello by just scanning their fingerprint through the laptop's reader. The 13.3-inche Full HD lets it transform from a conventional laptop to a convertible.

Samsung Electronics on Friday announced the launch of the Samsung Notebook 7 Spin (2018), ahead of CES 2018. However, the Active Pen will not be bundled along with the notebook. It boasts of a classy metal chassis.

Much like the Notebook 7 Spin, this one comes with an S Pen support. It offers a 360-degree hinge that allows users to use it as a traditional notebook in landscape mode or as a tablet for media consumption. You can record lectures and conversations using Voice Note and jot down notes using the S Pen simultaneously. The moments I spent with the Notebook 9 Pen were perfectly snappy and indicated that it would slot into my daily workflow without issue, but this since this still non-final hardware, you'll have to wait for a more complete verdict. The stylus is battery-free and fits nicely at the base of the device. The Pen itself has a fine, 0.7 mm tip and can recognize 4,096 levels of pressure, which makes it a good tool for artists. "Customers can choose between a 13.3" to a 15" touch screen sizes. There's an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 chipset thrumming away inside, and you'll be able to pick up models with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD, though Samsung is still keeping quiet on pricing.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 will roll out in the USA in the first quarter of 2018. The laptop features a VGA front camera and it is backed by a 43Wh battery.
