'It's just realistic': In show's reboot, Roseanne will be a Trump supporter

And Barr spent nearly as much time during the revival's Television Critics Association winter press tour press conference dodging questions about her Trump support as she did attempting to explain why her TV husband, Dan (John Goodman), was still alive in the revival when the final season of the original show memorably killed him off (albeit offscreen).

"The Roseanne show, I've always tried to have it be a true reflection of the society we live in".

With ABC rebooting "Roseanne" and showcasing the main character's conservative values, viewers took to Twitter to ask the network to revive "Last Man Standing".

During the Q&A session Monday, "Barr was pushed to defend her character's support for Trump in light of what a reporter called his racism and xenophobia", the AP reported.

These and other moments in the original series make it hard to believe the Roseanne would have voted for Trump, even if she is part of the working class. "To me (the show) was a great opportunity to have a family that can be divided by politics and still be united by love, and that's a great thing for this country right now".

Executive producers Whitney Cummings and Tom Werner, actors Ames McNamera, Emma Kenney, Jayden Rey, executive producer Bruce Helford, (l-r, front row) actor Michael Fishman, executive producer/actress Sara Gilbert, actress Laurie Metcalf, executive producer/actress Roseanne Barr, actors John Goodman, Lecy Goranson and Sarah Chalke of the television show Roseanne speak onstage during the ABC Television/Disney portion of the 2018 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena on January 8, 2018 in Pasadena, California.

But, she added, "Hating people for the way they voted, I feel, is unAmerican". "Nobody is brainwashed into agreeing with 100 percent of what anybody says".

Barr took issue with a reporter asking about Trump's xenophobia ("That's your opinion"), but she did admit that Trump "says a lot of insane sh*t..." I do support jobs for people. I don't agree with everything he says.

Executive producer Whitney Cummings said that sometimes you have to vote for what you think of the "lesser of two evils" when you're poor.

As for current events, Barr was asked if she would support Oprah Winfrey for president, which has enjoyed a social-media groundswell after her Golden Globes speech Sunday. Of course, I love Oprah like everybody else.

Roseanne returns on Tuesday, March 27 for a nine-episode run on ABC.

Roseanne Barr thinks she has a better shot at the presidency this time.

But Barr leapt back in: "Speaking of racism, I'm just going to say it".
