Ivanka Trump Praises Oprah's Golden Globes Speech About Sexual Predators

Ivanka Trump Praises Oprah's Golden Globes Speech About Sexual Predators

President Donald Trump has long admired Oprah Winfrey, the much-beloved media mogul and self-made billionaire.

Trump begins by saying "I'll beat O.", before stopping mid-sentence to flip the script: "Oprah would be a lot of fun".

"I think one of the arguments for Oprah is 45", Pelosi said, referring to Trump in shorthand for the 45th president.

"We welcome the challenge, whether it be Oprah Winfrey or anybody else", White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told reporters on Monday, adding that Trump will definitely run for reelection. But he said he knows her well and he doesn't think she'll run.

Winfrey gave an impassioned speech Sunday night at the Golden Globes, which has sparked talk about whether she might run for president.

"For too long women have not been heard or believed if they spoke their truth to the power of those men - but their time is up". "But their time is up", Winfrey said. "In 1944, Recy Taylor was a young wife and mother walking home from a church service she'd attended in Abbeville, Alabama, when she was abducted by six armed white men, raped, and left blindfolded by the side of the road coming home from church".

In that same year, he also tweeted that he "adored" Oprah. "Anyway, who cares, I adore Oprah".

Winfrey, in September and October, publicly dismissed the notion of seeking the nation's highest office, though she noted that Trump's victory made her rethink the requirements of the office.

"I probably wouldn't, but I do get exhausted with seeing what's happening with this country and if it got so bad I'd never want to rule it out totally", he said.

Celebrities then used Twitter to urge Winfrey to run for President. "I'd love to have Oprah".

She added: "I have been inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and powerful enough to stand up and tell their stories". Oprah would always be my first choice.

Beyond her rise from poverty, Winfrey's success as a multidimensional media figure has come from promoting ways for women to assert themselves, typically outside the political arena.

"She would be a serious candidate", said Jennifer Palmieri, former White House communications director under President Barack Obama and the communications director for Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign. She's somebody that's very special. "She's popular, she's brilliant, she's a wonderful woman", he said in 1999 on "Larry King Live".
