Justin Timberlake infuriates Dylan Farrow with Woody Allen 'hypocrisy' at Golden Globes

Justin Timberlake infuriates Dylan Farrow with Woody Allen 'hypocrisy' at Golden Globes

In her pre-Golden Globes tweets, Farrow voiced both support for the #TimesUp movement and hope that this time, efforts to fight harassment and abuse in Hollywood will matter - that change is truly coming to Hollywood.

Dylan first accused Allen of sexually molesting her in 1992, when she was just 7 years old, during a long custody battle between the famous director and Dylan's mother, actress Mia Farrow.

Throughout the dispute, big stars have continued to work with Allen. I thought things would change. Her brother Ronan Farrow was one of the instrumental figures who blew the lid off Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein's alleged sexual misconducts.

"The people who join this movement without taking any kind of personal accountability for the ways in which their own words and decisions have helped to perpetuate the culture they are fighting against, that's hard for me to reconcile", Farrow said. Even in the wake of the #MeToo movement and the more recent Time's Up initiative (which dominated Golden Globes coverage), celebrities compliment Allen's work and vie to act in his movies.

"I deeply regret working with Woody Allen on Wonder Wheel".

Over 300 women in the entertainment industry signed the Time's Up open letter in December, pledging their support to eradicate systemic sexual abuse in Hollywood as well as other industries.

When the Time's Up initiative launched on January 1, many actresses who have worked with Allen were included among the signees, including Scarlett Johansson, Cate Blanchett, Blake Lively, Emma Stone, and Greta Gerwig.

Backstage at the Golden Globes, BuzzFeed reporter Susan Cheng asked Gerwig about working with Allen, after winning Best Picture for her film Lady Bird. "It's one of my most heartbreaking mistakes", Krumholtz tweeted. She added it "breaks my heart" to see those she admires work with Allen.

"You also don't want it to lead to a witch-hunt atmosphere, a Salem atmosphere, where every guy in an office who winks at a woman is suddenly having to call a lawyer to defend himself".

Operation Black on the Golden Globes red carpet was always going to be tricky to navigate - especially for those who have films on their resume with the dodgy likes of Woody Allen.
