Razer release Project Linda - a laptop that your phone powers

Razer won't go into specifics around Project Linda's internals, but we do know it has enough battery to fully charge the Razer Phone three times over, and should last you almost all day if used like a laptop.

As with many of Razer's concepts, there's now no release date for Project Linda.

While the Razer Phone has a 1440p 120 Hz display, Project Linda (in its current form) is only equipped with a 13.3-inch 1080p 60 Hz screen, although Razer said it plans on matching the two devices' resolutions and refresh rates in a new iteration of Project Linda.

Connecting the Razer Phone to the Project Linda's dock offers a few unique benefits: 200GB of additional storage space, extra battery capacity, and the ability to use the docked phone as either a touchpad or a second screen. The Project Linda concept, revealed today at CES 2018, is a dock for the Razer Phone that turns it into a 13.3-inch Android gaming laptop.

Razer isn't the only company trying to expand the capabilities of Android smartphones. But theres also a full-screen keyboard complete with customizable Razer Chroma backlighting (because nothing says “Razer” like RGB lights). For now Razer is gathering fan feedback, but we wouldnt get too attached – juts take Linda for what it is, a cool-looking concept. The phone itself can then be used as a trackpad if you so desire, or it can be used as a secondary display to launch apps and other items.

Based on the Razer Blade Stealth, Project Linda is indistinguishable from the company's other high-end Windows laptops.

The Razer Phone is a speedy little device for productivity use cases, but having the option to plug it into a hybrid with a big battery and a full keyboard and mouse support could make it something that replaces that Chromebook in your backpack. At the moment, in the early prototype stage, it simply mirrors what's being shown on the display, but it's clear Razer sees a lot of potential in further exploring the idea of a phone-powered laptop.

Placing the Razer Phone into Project Linda is pretty simple. Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port and 3.5 mm audio jack.

There's also a relatively small market for such a device as there can't be all that many Razer Phone owners out there, but as a concept I think it's absolutely incredible.
