Darrell Bevell Reportedly Fired as Seahawks OC After 7 Seasons with Team

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and the Seattle Times' Bob Condotta reported Wednesday afternoon that the Seahawks have fired offensive line coach/assistant head coach Tom Cable.

As of mid-day Wednesday, the Seahawks had not announced Bevell's firing.

The Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll are not messing around.

One possibility is former UW coach Steve Sarkisian, who worked under Carroll at USC from 2001-04 and again from 2006-08, and has been the offensive coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons this season after having worked at Alabama in 2016. I've always been here to help our guys, and I want them to go and do what they're capable of doing and meet their challenges of their lifetime as well, and I'm up for that. Coach Pete Carroll left the door open for potential coaching changes when he said after the season that the staff would be evaluated.

Under Bevell, the Seahawks also set a club record with 6,012 total yards in 2014 and broke that a year later with 6,058.

Darrell Bevell's time in Seattle has come to an end. He replaced Jeremy Bates, who followed Carroll to Seattle from USC but was sacked after one season.

The Seahawks led the National Football League in both yards allowed and points allowed in 2014, the year before Richard became the defensive coordinator.

Bevell's popularity with the Seahawks fans declined after the team lost Super Bowl XLIX to the New England Patriots on an interception at the goal line. It's part of the reason Seattle's run game was so dominant in those four seasons. Seattle finished fourth overall in points and passing yards (4,061) and third overall in rushing (2,268).

They managed just one rushing touchdown from a running back all season and Wilson finished as the team's leading rusher.
