Even Lupita Nyong'o Can't Get Black Panther Tickets

Even Lupita Nyong'o Can't Get Black Panther Tickets

But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king-and Black Panther-is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. The upcoming, must-see flick's advance tickets have already outsold any previous Marvel Cinematic Universe flick ever released.

There may be a new king atop Marvel's movie empire.

Director Ryan Coogler, best known for helming 2015's Creed and 2013's Fruitvale Station, recently talked about the importance of the film and how it transcends the superhero genre, telling Rolling Stone, "I think the question that I'm trying to ask and answer in Black Panther is, 'What does truly mean to be African?'" the filmmaker recently told Rolling Stone.

The film opens on February 16 which happens to be the four-day President's weekend.

Marvel fans are excited for the studio's Black Panther movie. I'm predicting that Black Panther will easily beat that opening. If that's the case, Black Panther would not only become the highest opening of all-time for a February release, besting Fox/Marvel's R-rated Deadpool ($132.4M), but the best opening before summer. Currently, non-Disney estimates before tracking believe Black Panther will post a $80M-$85M start with a possible shot at $100M-plus.

Internationally-celebrated Grammy® Award-winning global superstar Kendrick Lamar and Billboard Magazine's Executive of the Year, Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, are set to curate and produce "Black Panther: The Album".

Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Daniel Kaluuya as W'Kabi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, and Forest Whitaker as Zuri.
