Mark Wahlberg was paid 1500 times more than Michelle Williams

Mark Wahlberg was paid 1500 times more than Michelle Williams

"All The Money In The World" star Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000 (£730) for a 10-day reshoot of the film, while co-star Mark Wahlberg made $1.5 million (£1.1 million), according to USA Today. However, USA Today just reported that they "since learned Wahlberg's team actually negotiated a hefty fee, with the actor paid $1.5 million for his reshoots".

Further, USA Today reports that Ridley had previously claimed he was able to pull off the $10 million reshoot because "everyone did it for nothing".

This would contradict director Ridley Scott's remarks to USA Today in December that "everyone did it for nothing".

Ridley Scott partially re-shot his latest movie after Kevin Spacey was sacked due to sexual misconduct allegations, with both Wahlberg and Williams called back to act opposite Spacey's replacement, Christopher Plummer.

Looks like somebody figured out how Forbes' highest-paid actor is making all the money in the world.

So, when news broke that Ridley planned to reshoot Spacey's scenes with Christopher Plummer and still make his end of December premiere date, it seemed noble, but impossible.

"All the Money in the World" was produced by Imperative Entertainment and distributed by Sony's TriStar Pictures.

Actor Christopher Plummer replaced Spacey in the role of billionaire Jean Paul Getty in the film based on the real-life kidnapping of Getty's grandson John Paul Getty III.

"I really hope that with everything coming to light, she was paid fairly", Chastain tweeted of Williams.

Allegations about the disparity in pay comes days after showbiz's biggest names stood together for the Time's Up anti-sexual harassment and gender equality movement at the Golden Globes. While Plummer and the crew got paid, Scott refused payment, he said at the time, and so did star Michelle Williams. When The Washington Post first reported that Williams would get "a fraction" of Wahlberg's paycheck, it said that actor and his manager "have a reputation in Hollywood for driving a tough bargain".

But the optics of paying the lead actor 1500 times more than the lead actress, if true, would be the latest example of the age-old pay gap between actors and actresses.

Movie producer Judd Apatow called the claims "messed up". and added: 'I wonder if the studio or Wahlberg will do something to make the situation less insane'. And they could have my salary, they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted.
