Mourinho attacks Scholes: The only thing Scholes does is criticize

After United's triumph on Monday at Everton, when Manchester beat Everton 2-0 in round 22 of the Premier League, Mourinho responded to Scholes' comments with his usual sarcastic tone.

United's "stumble" up the table since last season seems an odd thing to portray as regression, but Storey isn't alone in firing barbs at Mourinho.

The visitors were inspired by Pogba, who was criticised by Scholes following Saturday's goal-less draw at home to Southampton, and Mourinho took the opportunity to return fire. "Juan also as a midfielder coming to help, Victor [Lindelof] out of position did unbelievable, so some very good things that we can take from the game".

In defence of Pogba, Mourinho told reporters at Goodison Park: "I think the only thing Paul Scholes does is to criticise".

"I think they would love to be here. Sometimes he plays very well, sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't play so well", said Mourinho. "We played with a lot of midfielders but, in another game, we may need more wingers, so we can not complain because we have a fantastic squad and [have] no excuses when we draw or lose".

However, Mourinho apparently doesn't trust any of these players and is starting to have a rocky relationship with them, particularly Scholes after his comments as a pundit. Fifty per cent is 12-and-a-half silverware, 25 per cent is around six [trophies].

And Mourinho was full of praise for the 25-year-old winger.

Paul Pogba was Manchester United's big signing just two-years ago, when he set world transfer record of 89 million pounds in his move from Juventus to Manchester United.

Since retiring from football, Scholes has taken up a role as a pundit with BT Sport and has often scrutinised his former side. "Our performance was really good so maybe I'm lucky this time and the kings of rock and roll that said I wasn't performing last month will say I'm performing now", he added referring to criticism from former United players. "Today, I think we did".

"I believe you make the decisions but I also believe that some clubs or some managers have good friends in the right chairs and I don't have them". Paul Pogba teed up Martial on the edge of the area and he stroked a sublime finish into the top corner for his ninth goal of the season. He is just strolling through games.

"Pogba doesn't look fit, I wonder whether he is training properly".
