'The Shape of Water', 'Big Little Lies' win top awards at CCA

'The Shape of Water', 'Big Little Lies' win top awards at CCA

So basically, we can't get enough of this awesome little girl!

Some stars found a better use for their limited time, forwarding the message of the #TimesUp movement.

Olivia Munn says hosting a Hollywood awards show is nothing compared to speaking out about sexual misconduct. Gadot won the #SeeHer Award. In 2017, there could be no finer recipient than Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. Beyond that, there is a massive amount of affection in the community for its director, Patty Jenkins, and its leading lady, Gal Gadot - the latter is now the biggest movie star in the world - who have been at as many awards ceremonies as anyone this year. "This dress reminded me of a very modern suffragette dress; if you had a pin here it could very well express that in a modern way".

The duo proceeded to shout-out to the "good guys" in the industry who do things like call for a meeting with an actress in a conference room rather than in their hotel room.

Munn had to cut her off at this point.

Her plans right after the big Critics' Choice night?

Maybe that's because Kumail Nanjiani didn't win. He also won the Golden Globe in Best Actor category at this year's star-studded ceremony.

"We're very happy that our movie came out in a year where Hollywood is having a lot of hard conversations with itself, and we're amplifying voices that have been silenced for too long", Nanjiani said.

The Jolie-directed First They Killed My Father was nominated for best foreign language film, but lost to In the Fade, a German entry starring Diane Kruger.

No offense meant to Zooey Deschanel, but Munn was totally in she was a dork, able to make us wince and cringe at her awkwardness.

Brooklynn Prince might have won the award for Best Young Actor/Actress at the 2018 Critics' Choice Awards last night, but she included everyone in her speech. We wanted to bring people in and have them scream, laugh, cry, and scream again.

The toast quickly turned to Wahlberg, however, who was not attending the awards show.

Other stars up for the award included Jessica Chastain for Molly's Game, Sally Hawkins for The Shape of Water, Frances McDormand for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing and Meryl Streep for The Post. She then went on to thank those who had made her win possible.

"The Handmaid's Tale" went home with the best drama and best actress (for Elizabeth Moss) trophies while Sterling K Brown won the best actor for "This Is Us".

Guillermo del Toro is going to be hard to beat in the best director race. Season two of the hit Amazon show will indirectly address Hollywood's recent wave of sexual harassment allegations, she said.

The Shape of Water, which led all nominees with 14 bids, also claimed the best picture prize, along with score and production design honours.
