'Avatar' Director James Cameron Responds to Eliza Dushku's 'True Lies' Molestation Allegations

'Avatar' Director James Cameron Responds to Eliza Dushku's 'True Lies' Molestation Allegations

Kramer denied the allegations in a statement to Deadline.

According to the Los Angeles Times, "True Lies" writer and director James Cameron said Dushku "is very courageous for speaking up, and I think all the women are that are speaking out and calling for a reckoning now". "It has been indescribably exhausting, bottling this up inside me for all of these years", she continued. "Directors are historically pretty oblivious to the interpersonal things that are happening on their sets", Cameron said.

"Obviously, Eliza is very fearless for speaking up and I think all the women who are speaking up and calling for a reckoning now [are]".

Cameron called it "heartbreaking that it happened to her" on his film.

"I know the other party", Cameron, referring to the accused stunt director, said before adding, "not well, he hasn't worked for me since then".

The director went on to say that there needs to be an awakening across all industries, not just Hollywood and education needs to be improved to hopefully prevent men from participating in this type of damaging behavior.

Cameron pulled no punches saying "This shit has been going on since Day One". That they're clearly not feeling what this is going to mean for this person further down the line. True Lies costar Jamie Lee Curtis tells People she didn't know about the incident, which she calls "very sad and disturbing". "We all looked out for her, that's surprising", he told The Wrap, after he saw Dushku's Facebook post.

Kramer has worked behind-the-scenes on blockbuster such as Mr and Mrs Smith, Blade Runner andFast and The Furious 7 added that he thought the allegations were "just insane", insisting he "treated her like a daughter". Now, especially. I have daughters. "There's really no mercy now".

"I was 12", she said.

Dushku posted an emotional Facebook post on Saturday morning detailing an encounter where stunt coordinator Joel Kramer undressed and rubbed his naked body over hers when she was only 12 years old. "This is just out of nowhere and she has put out what she is going to say, so it is a he said, she said".

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during production, but the woman who said she was serving as Dushku's guardian says that failed to protect the child actress.

'Sharing these words, at long last getting my abuser out freely by name, brings the begin of another quiet'. In November, he told Vanity Fair, "I remember nearly getting in a fight with Harvey Weinstein and hitting him with my Oscar", and acknowledges that, in retrospect, there are many in Hollywood "that would've preferred I had played through on that one".
