David Moyes: 'Marko Arnautovic doing a really good job'

David Moyes: 'Marko Arnautovic doing a really good job'

The West Ham United duo both scored against Watford in the Premier League yesterday.

The Hammers took the lead through Javier Hernandez in the first half, when the Mexico global headed a cross from Michail Antonio.

Watford certainly arrived in East London in a buoyant mood.

The victory, and performance, proved just how far West Ham have come under David Moyes, whose first game in charge was a dispiriting 2-0 defeat to the same opposition in November.

Etienne Capoue shot after Troy Deeney went down in the box, at the other end Arnautovic hit straight at the goalkeeper from close range but the Hammers did go ahead before the break. Meanwhile, Hornets stopper, Orestis Karnezis, blocked with his feet from Joao Mario, this after Arnautovic had been crowded out when taking on all-comers as the hosts responded.

Hernandez nodded Mario's pinpoint free-kick firmly beyond Karnezis, only for the celebrations to be cut short by an assistants flag, while Adrian earned his corn, dealing with Abdoulaye Doucoure's low drive.

"But it's not an excuse, West Ham were better". The latter was practically electric throughout the contest, producing the flawless crossing assist for Hernandez to head home in the 38th minute to give the Hammers the lead. However, West Ham are only three points clear of the relegation zone. We were very wary of Watford after their performance and result against Chelsea. But before they could make any real headway, West Ham doubled their advantage. The Mexican striker found the back of the net again with a well-placed header for West Ham on Saturday.

West Ham had the most underwhelming of transfer windows in recent times, with the deadline day arrival of Jordan Hugill from Preston the only first-team acquisition the club made last month.
