Fissures in AIMPLB? Maulana who backed Sri Sri's involvement ousted

Maulana Salman Husaini Nadwi, who suggested an out of court settlement in the Ayodhya Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid case, has been sacked by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB).

Salman Nadvi also said the Muslim personal law board should be dissolved and a more representative "Sharia Application Board" be formed in its place. On Saturday, at the general body meeting of AIMPLB, numerous 500 participants said Nadvi should be removed from the board, the report added.

"Committee announced AIMPLB Board will continue with its old stand that Mosque can not be gifted, sold or shifted".

Babri Masjid is a masjid and it will remain a masjid till eternity, added the AIMPLB.

The working committee of the AIMPLB had met yesterday evening. "Board is confident that court verdict will be in favour of the stand of Muslims and if that happens it will neither be a victory or defeat of anybody but it will be victory of justice".

"You are talking against the stand of the Board".

"Babri Masjid is an essential part of faith in Islam and Muslims can never abdicate the Masjid nor can they exchange land for Masjid or gift the Masjid land".

AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who is also a member of the board, briefed reporters tonight on the proceedings of the second day of the 26th plenary of the board here. The board on Sunday accepted his "disassociation" and announced that he is no longer a member. "By demolitioning it never loses its identity", it said.

In a video clip that has gone viral, Nadwi had on Thursday said that top leaders from both the communities should meet to hammer out an out-of court settlement to the lingering dispute.

"If a piece of land is endowed in the name of Allah it remains endowed forever", the Board said.

The meeting also discussed key agendas like the Triple Talaq Bill pending in the Rajya Sabha.

Another member of the AIMPLB board Maulana Syed Kalbe Sadiq, made a controversial statement on Sunday in Lucknow regarding the Ram Mandir.

At its ongoing three-day session in Hyderabad, the AIMPLB Executive Committee unanimously passed a resolution reiterating that under Islamic Shariah land of a mosque cannot be sold or gifted by anybody and there can not be any change in the status of the land.

The meeting comes at a time when the Supreme Court is hearing a batch of petitions against the Allahabad High Court verdict in the Ayodhya dispute. Since the mosque was built on orders of the Mughal emperor Babur, it was named Babri Masjid.
