Google is bringing Instant one-tap replies to messaging apps

Google's Smart Reply feature might be made into an app that would provide these predictive answers in third party messaging apps. Like all other projects within Area 120, it's a very early experiment so there aren't many details to share right now.

In another screenshot that Area 120 shared, the team shows that Reply can take Smart Replies and elevate them to the next level.

In an email test sent to potential testers, published by Android Police, a spokesman for the team said: 'You probably get a lot of chat messages. "Alert messages" feature in which if your phone is silent and you have a prior meeting or work, your phone will give you update on that event.

Google's Smart Reply, introduced in 2016, uses the firm's neural network to intelligently analyse a message's content to suggest an appropriate response.

The expanded feature aims to take the hassle out of firing back replies in a range of popular messaging apps, including WhatsApp.

Smart Reply has, for many people become an integral part of their Inbox and Gmail experience, now Google's San Francisco based incubator, Area 120, has come up with a way to bring those smart replies to all your messaging apps.

Beyond automated replies, Reply is getting brand-new features that make it even more aware of certain situations.

Allo now uses Smart Reply in its message platform to enable users to quickly respond to messages with a selection of context-aware replies. Plus it will have an advanced do not disturb mode that will silence your phone and tell people you can't chat right now, but also scan incoming messages for important stuff so that "Reply can make sure to get your attention even when your phone is silent". Not all Android Messages users are able to access Smart Reply. Reply will be able to silence users' phone when they are driving, and it will also inform people who send a message that the user can not chat at the moment.

Android Messages has already started rolling support for the new feature but only for select users.

The project is still in very early stages of development, and not much is known about it, other than the fact that it exists.

The app is named "Reply", and invitations to test it have been sent out by Area 120.
