Lieberman: "It's Not the Time to Bark, but to Bite Hard"

In the face of the perceived threat from Iranian military presence, Israel has increased the pace of its interventions striking targets in pre-emptive strikes against Hezbollah and Iranian troops in Syria.

Pope Francis has named the conflict in Syria the worst humanitarian disaster after World War II.

Israel has blamed Iran for sending the drone over Israeli airspace and downing its jet. Putin may look to quell the situation himself rather than have the USA get more heavily involved in a region that, in recent years, Russia, along with Iran, has tended to dominate. According to Channel Two, the IDF destroyed about half of Syria's air power in the counterattack.

He added, "God willing they will see more surprises whenever they try to attack Syria". The Israelis are completely changing their policy, taking much greater risks in order to halt this dynamic. How far can Israel go? Israel said Iran would be held responsible for its outcome. So this is a new step.

The weekend's events began with Iran launching an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), more commonly known as a drone, from Syria and into Israel on the morning of February 10. It's not yet known what exactly the Iranians had planned with the drone; Iran is claiming that it was related to self-defense. In addition, there are roughly a few hundred Iranian experts from the Revolutionary Guards and Quds forces. The media, if it were doing its job, would reveal that Israelis have no right to support rebels in the Syrian Civil War by pretending that they are merely defending the right to exist as a model democracy. Now the Syrian regime is dependent on Iran for its survival.

As for the differences Israel has with Russian Federation, which on Saturday urged "all sides to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that could lead to an even greater complication of the situation", Lieberman said it shows that "each side has its own interests".

It is likely that a clash between Iran and Israel will come to a head. Iran seems determined to remain there. This state of affairs was obviously disruptive for Iranian designs in the region and a bitter pill for the Assad regime to swallow. The Russians are trying to contain Iranian influence as well. Moscow has no interest in a full-scale confrontation between Syria, Iran, and Israel, as such a conflict would endanger recent achievements in Syria.

"The Iranian activity should, of course, bother us". This is one of the reasons why Israel is conducting such an active diplomatic campaign vis-a-vis the Russians throughout the last two years. "The government is meeting-I have to assure you that this is a top issue for us".

Are there options for the Europeans to mediate? The language of "it said" and "claims" could lead readers to think that the matter is up for reasonable debate. It said others had posted photos of "trucks carrying the batteries on central highways in northern Israel".

According to Israel, the drone is a reverse-engineered copy of the stealthy U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel UAV lost over Iran in 2011. So it has the know-how, the capacities, and a huge interest to stop this cycle of escalation.

What outcome would justify another USA war in a region where all the previous wars in this century have left us bleeding, bankrupt, divided and disillusioned?

"Is Iran's reliance on Syria already a fact on the ground", the defense minister was asked by one of the journalists, and replied, "We will talk less and do what is necessary, and you will continue to deal with the interpretation".
