Zenit St Petersburg 3-0 Celtic: We lacked bravery & belief - Brendan Rodgers

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has named an unchanged starting line-up from the side which played a "perfect game" against Zenit last week, for their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.

However, McManus is of the opinion that Lustig is a poor defender as he is frequently at fault such as he was against the Russian outfit.

Lustig, 31, is an experienced campaigner as besides making 224 appearances in all competitions for Celtic, he also has 62 caps for Sweden to his name.

Top-scorer Aleksandr Kokorin continues up front while Emiliano Rigoni, who is the Europa League's second-highest scorer this season with six goals, playing on the wing.

"If we played with a little bit more courage and belief, we could maybe have got a result", said the Ulsterman.

"There is still an terrible lot of work for us to do", he added.

"There is still an very bad lot of work for us to do but, when I take a step back, there have been a lot of positives for us in Europe this season." said Rodgers. We have played very well in some games, shown some great qualities.

"That, in turn, makes it more hard for our players but our players should relish the challenge of that and take that as a compliment".

"It is good to learn at this level but we want to perform better as well".

"Over the course of both competitions in Europe, there have been aspects which pleased me. Last week was an outstanding performance and you would think that would allow us to come into this game with confidence".

Zenit head coach Roberto Mancini was understandably content with the turnaround in his team's performance level after having been outplayed in the first leg.

The Italian said: "We deserved to win".

"I can't stand players pulling out of tackles and he's done it every game and plays again".

Despite the defeat to Zenit, Celtic still have plenty to play for this season, and look on course for another treble.

"But frankly, after a 3-2 defeat on home turf, we were in a hard position". "Tonight we scored three goals, had other chances and for 75 minutes didn't concede any chances to Celtic".
